From my Aunt Linda:
Dear family and friends,
The long awaited appointment with the urologist for Mason was today. The renal scans showed 37% functionability in his right kidney. Normally if there is 20% or more, they would keep the kidney and take out the blockage. However, this urologist feels that although the renal scans say there is function in that kidney, the cat scan and ultrasound show a very thin and dead looking kidney. Therefore, he is afraid that if they just go in and fix the blockage, there would be no guarantee that the kidney would filter and he'd run into the same problem again. So, he is referring Mason to another specialist for a second opinion. The referral has to be made through their insurance company and then an appointment set up with this specialist, who the urologist said is a very busy man and hard to get in to see. As you can see, your prayers are still needed and very much appreciated. It may be some time before I have any more information about this situation but please know that we will keep you informed as we are informed. God's peace has been and I know will continue to be with all of us as we wait. Meanwhile, Mason's pain is gone and life is going on as usual for him.
Thank you all so much for your love and concern for our grandson. Prayer is powerful and we feel it.
